DESTINATIONS

Destinations comprise a mix of well known and little known locations for which our mobile units allow for comfortable accommodation in true bush environments. Many of these unspoiled by droves of commercial operators and development. Our operations include Zambia and the Mozambique Coast, with our signature Zimbabwe camps typically situated on lakeshores, riverside, or views over mountainous areas, and forest land, chosen from the following regions:

LAKE KARIBA

Along the northern border of Zimbabwe lies the huge lake of Kariba. A place where we lived, and operated for many years. A good portion of our lives and children's upbringing took place here; comprising of everything from the wildest adventures like spear fishing in its water's to the most relaxing such as sundowners on the deck of a houseboat, and everything in between. Activities here include : houseboat and photographic safaris, birdwatching, fishing, boat and vehicle game drives, guided walks, sundowner cruises, and then there is more. Because we like to be special and different, in our exclusive area we offer sleeping out under the stars, viewing crocs up close and personal at night, hikes into remote parts of the Zambezi Escarpment, sailing, and water sports. Four of the big five are found here, and superb photographic opportunities along its shoreline are a daily norm.

 LOWER ZAMBEZI

From Lake Kariba the Zambezi River flows once again as the lower section of Africa's fourth longest river. This also being our home on the Zambian bank, there are many memories that entice us to share the magic of this place with other families, young people, and friends. Fishing for the mighty tiger fish is exciting stuff whether on fly or by conventional means, but catching tilapia for evening snacks is great fun for all ages. Mana Pools, being a world heritage sight speaks for itself, but the simple fact that one can walk to observe the amazing wildlife of this National Park sets  it apart from many others. Game drives, and guided walks are the main drawcard here, but for those happy for some adventure, and a very good chance of meeting elephant, hippo, and crocs close up, then canoeing will provide this.

VICTORIA FALLS

There is obviously plenty the Victoria Falls has to offer besides the amazing Falls themselves. This ranges from all adrenaline adventure activities such as white water rafting and bungee jumping to the opposite extreme of sundowner cruising, and leisurely walks around the local market places selecting souvenirs. Of course there are the game drives, helicopter flights, and game viewing both around the Falls and neighbouring Botswana. Yes these are things that need to be done…….or at least some out of all that there is available. But outside of all the “commercial” offerings we like to introduce you to something most visitors do not get to experience. Personalised tours, with photographers, and videographers is our thing here. With this in mind its all about catching that unique shot or piece of footage most others will never have the opportunity to get. Something you cannot do when having to follow the crowds.

HWANGE

Along the western boundary of Zimbabwe lies the largest National Park of this country. At around 14 500 sq km Hwange is famous for its large herds of elephant, but is awesome for its wildlife viewing in general, with over 100 species of mammal, and variety of birdlife exceeding 470 species. With our endeavours to always offer something exclusive or unique to our guests, we have access to private land that allows night drives, and viewing over floodlit waterholes not permitted on the pans within the National Park. With our mobile safaris Hwange is close enough to either Victoria Falls or Matobo National Park to have a pleasant drive, and visit some cultural sites along the way.

CENTRAL PLATEAU REGION

The central plateau or highveld of Zimbabwe is a band of higher elevation within the country that generally runs from northeast to the southwest. A large proportion of this is dedicated to farming, but hidden amongst this are many lessor known and sometimes completely secret areas of outstanding scenic beauty, and places useful for numerous adventure activities. It is at these locations that one can frequently experience settings, and activities that are completely exclusive to our guests. Our home base is in this area for this reason, and where we offer a broad selection of adventure activities. These range from fly fishing to kayaking, and wing shooting to mountain biking . For families and especially the young uns we provide zip wires, Jacobs ladder, and rock climbing. Farming tours can be a lot more fun than one would expect, and visits to the local communities where our young explorers contribute to the less fortunate is something well worth doing, and good to help one appreciate what they have. Please see our young explorers link for more information on this.

EASTERN HIGHLANDS

The Eastern Highlands lie along Zimbabwe's eastern border with Mozambique with its highest elevation being 2592 m above sea level. It has a spectacular beauty drastically different to the rest of the country. Rolling hills climbing to more mountainous ridges, with misty valleys, and lush green forest areas. With high rainfall there are numerous rivers and springs, with cascading waterfalls sprinkled throughout the length of this 300km highland region. The main activities here are correspondingly different to the rest of Zimbabwe, where hiking the mountainous trails, driving through mountain ranges, and fishing for trout are the more usual order of the day. For the adventurous there is amazing rock climbing, and abseiling to be had, along with rafting, kayaking, and sky walk past the Mtarazi Falls; Zimbabwe's highest waterfall at 762m is a site to see. Wildlife endemic to this area include Samango Monkey, and Blue Duiker, with a number of bird species also found only in this region of the country.

SOUTH EAST LOWVELD

This area incorporates in excess of 500 000 acres of privately owned land with amazing fauna and flora. It is testament to how consumptive and non consumptive safaris can operate hand in hand to produce amazing wildlife when properly managed.  Our young explorers spend a good proportion of time here learning what real camping constitutes, assisting with research, and anti poaching, and ways to live off the land by hunting for the pot and learning survival tips experientially. This is also a great family spot for all ages, with both guys and girls getting involved and participating in a number of different activities. Fishing in different ways, how to make bush rope, fire making, wild fruits that can be gathered, bush mechanics and sleeping out under the stars are just a few of the activities that constitute a trip with us that provides a different angle to the norm.

GONAREZHOU

Gonarezhou National Park at over 5000 sq km in size is one of Zimbabwe's best kept secrets. Scenery is diverse and spectacular, with the Chilojo Cliffs being an iconic landmark of this park. Its vernacular name of 'Place of the Elephants' is justified, having a population exceeding 11 000. It is obviously not the only location for quality wildlife viewing in Zimbabwe, but it is one of the most remote, so chances for exclusive sightings without having to share with multitudes is very high. Being more remote with wonderful scenic beauty is not the only attraction. The big five species are all here along with wild dog, cheetah, and every other predator species found in Zimbabwe. It is in this park that our mobile camp really comes to the fore, as we can accommodate you in comfort where there are no existing amenities but where beautiful scenery and amazing wildlife on your doorstep.
